Most office suites store your files on their servers. Your documents live in someone else's cloud, behind someone else's login, governed by someone else's terms. You access your own work through a browser tab.
Moji takes a different approach.
Your Device, Your Files
In Moji, your workspace is a directory on your filesystem. Your documents, spreadsheets, and presentations are files you can see, move, copy, and back up using any tool you already have.
Cloud sync is optional. When enabled, your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. But the source of truth is always your device, and you can work offline without limitation.
Why This Matters for Agents
Local-first is not just a privacy feature. It is an architecture that unlocks agent collaboration. When your files live on your filesystem, your agent can access them directly. There are no API rate limits, no auth token exchanges, no format conversions. The agent opens a file and starts working.
Version history is maintained through the same mechanisms developers use every day. Your agent gets diffs, blame, and context for every file it touches.
Portability as a Principle
Every file in Moji is stored in an open, plain-text format. You can open your documents in any text editor, process your spreadsheets with any scripting language, and view your presentations in any browser.
There is no lock-in. Your data is portable today, tomorrow, and always.
Building Trust
We believe the best way to earn trust is to give you control. Your files are yours. Your data stays on your device unless you choose otherwise. And when you leave, you take everything with you.
